In June of 2010, McDonald´s™ Cyprus introduced as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility program “On the Road Safely”, a road safety program that is implemented in collaboration with the Department of Traffic Police.

The program 'On the Road Safely' is aimed at pre-school aged children from 3 until 6 years old and intends to inform children about the basic safety standards for road safety in a pleasant and creative way.

For the needs of the program, McDonald´s™ Cyprus has created a hero named Makis. Makis is a super smart kid who knows everything about road safety. His task is to teach children how to behave in the streets.

Makis travels throughout Cyprus to make new friends and share his knowledge on how to stay safe. Stories of Makis are printed in a booklet that is given to children at kindergartens and pre-schools, all over Cyprus.
